What is the Difference Between Churches?
What's the difference between a Catholic and Protestant church? Do all churches have an organ? Are drums, guitars and a keyboard OK in church? Will I understand what the pastor is saying? How do I become a member? What's a denomination?
Becoming a Christian at any stage of your life is a momentous and life-changing journey. Making the decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and try to live your life with the Holy Spirit's leading is a challenge and a joy.
But how churches operate, what defines their doctrine or working out of their faith or how they choose to worship can be a mine field. The bible teaches us that the universal "church" is one body made up of many parts. While the essential teaching should remain approximately the same, namely that Christ died as a substitute for our sins, and that it is through Him and Him alone that man can have fellowship with God, how we all choose to express this faith and personal relationship can be very different. It is up to each believer to prayerfully ask where God has chosen to put him/her and to identify with that church as fully as possible in order to grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord and be disciples of the one, true Messiah, Jesus.
