Care for the Family

About Care for the Family

Care for the Family is a national charity which aims to promote strong family life and to help those who face family difficulties. We couldn’t do this without the help of our supporters – people like you. Together we can strengthen marriages, support parents and help the bereaved. We do this through events, resources, training and networks of befrienders.

A Bit About Us and Our Needs

CLC is an international missionary organisation made up of hundreds of individuals from many denominations. We are bound together by a common purpose: we desire to see people come to faith and maturity in the Lord Jesus Christ and we believe that evangelical Christian literature is an essential part in this process.

CLC International (UK) is a registered charity and has been a major giver over the years to literature projects worldwide. This has been made possible by your purchases through our bookshops, wholesale and website, and by your giving. In some countries the only Christian bookshops are CLC. Some of these shops are kept open and witnessing because of our support network around the world.

Like most Christian organisations, CLC has two main needs: Money and People.

The Ark, Erith
More than just a bookshop, The Ark is a Christian resources & outreach centre for Christian Books, Gifts, stationery, magazines, cards, videos & audio tapes. We are steadily increasing our network of suppliers and so are able to order an increasing range of items. There is also a coffee shop on the premises.

Evangelical Alliance

We are the largest and oldest body representing the UK’s two million evangelical Christians. For more than 165 years, we have been bringing Christians together and helping them listen to, and be heard by, the government, media and society.

From Skye to Southampton, from Coleraine to Cardiff, we work across 81 denominations, 4,000 churches, 600 organisations and thousands of individual members. And we’re not just connecting Christians within the UK. We are a founding member of the World Evangelical Alliance, a global network of more than 600 million evangelical Christians, and we work in partnership with Global Connections, the UK evangelical Christian network for world mission.

Unity is what drives us – but not just for unity’s sake. By bringing people together, we are following the John 17 mandate to show the immense love of God, who sent His Son for us. We connect people for a shared mission, whether it’s nurturing a Church culture that is increasingly confident in the gospel, getting involved in community action or lobbying the government for a better society. We inform and inspire Christians with resources, analysis and articles about our society, what the Church is doing and how they can get involved. And we represent evangelicals to the media, presenting God’s truth with grace and telling good news stories about the difference Christians are making.

We believe the Church is the key to long-lasting change in our country – and that by working closely with our amazing members, we can transform our communities with the good news of Jesus.

CCFON – Christian Concern for our Nation

At Christian Concern we have a passion to see the United Kingdom return to the Christian faith. Our nation has been shaped and defined by this faith for hundreds of years. Yet in the last few decades, the nation has largely turned her back on Jesus and embraced alternative ideas such as secular liberal humanism, moral relativism and sexual licence. The fruit of this can be seen in widespread family breakdown, immorality and social disintegration.

Yet we believe that this nation has a hope, and that hope can be found in Jesus Christ. On this basis we seek to awaken the Church. We need to be passionate about our faith and become a light and a witness to the nation.

Whilst engaging with the Church, we want to work to infuse a biblical worldview into every aspect of society. We want to be a strong Christian voice in the public sphere, arguing passionately for the truth of the gospel and defending the historic freedoms that we have enjoyed in this nation for so long. We believe that by doing so, society as a whole will benefit. We seek to highlight injustice, change public opinion on issues of key importance and affect policy at the highest levels.

We engage on a broad large range of issues, including abortion, adoption and fostering, bioethics, marriage, education, employment, end of life, equality, family, free speech, Islamism, religious freedom, the sex trade, social issues and issues relating to sexual orientation.
